Carolin Daub lives as a freelance musician in Stuttgart and works as a recorder player in the fields of early and contemporary music. Her work focuses on experimental music, free improvisation and interdisciplinary art, exploring and utilizing the connections between different art forms.

Carolin Daub received her artistic training as a young student at the HMDK Stuttgart, where she later graduated with distinction in the master's degree in instrumental pedagogy. Further semesters at the Escola Superior de Música e Artes do Espectáculo in Porto and at the ZHdK in Zurich as well as a specialized master's degree in contemporary music at the UdK in Berlin round off her education.

Furthermore, Carolin Daub regularly conceives and directs new concert programs and continuously explores new possibilities of sound and expression on her instrument.

In addition to her artistic work, Carolin Daub teaches the recorder at the Freie Hochschule Stuttgart, where she has been passing on her knowledge and experience to students since 2018.

In 2023 Carolin Daub received a scholarship from the German Music Council and the German Orchestra Foundation.

Ensembles

Rosarium Recorder Quartet

The Rosarium Recorder Quartet - consisting of the four musicians: Carolin Daub, Fabian Grosch, Rong-Jen Hung and Vladimir Soares - is an international ensemble performing a wide range of music from the Renaissance to the present day. The four musicians met while studying the recorder at the State University of Music and Performing Arts in Stuttgart and formed a quartet in 2021. The quartet is characterized by its particular musical style, in which the four musicians combine traditional and modern elements in their concert programs, creating a soundscape that is both unique and captivating. Their performances have been praised for their technical prowess and creative interpretations, which combine balanced ensemble playing with improvisation and embellishments. With their passionate and creative performances, the Rosarium Recorder Quartet is a shining example of the power and beauty of the recorder.

Melodia Suave

Melodia Suave (Niels Pfeffer: harpsichord/theorbo, Carolin Daub: recorder) is interested in researching different early music repertoire and reinterpreting it in relation to historical performance practice. Central aspects of Melodia Suave's artistic work are the mediation of musical affects and the discovery of new sound possibilities.

Carolin Daub (recorder), Reto Weiche (guitar, e-guitar) and Karera Fujita (soprano) are dedicated to contemporary music as an ensemble. The focus here is on intensive cooperation with composers and ideas that create something new musically with recorder, guitar and soprano.
